THE Hamilton Kangaroos will wrap up their Hampden Football Netball League season with a home game against Port Fairy.
In football, the Hamilton Kangaroos will be out to notch up their first win in two months when they host Port Fairy at Melville Oval tomorrow.
The round 18 clash sees the two teams face-off to conclude their season with the Roos again backing a team with plenty of youngsters to get the job done against the Seagulls.
It has been a tough second half of the season for both teams, with the Seagulls winless for the year, as both teams search for a win to finish the 2022 campaign on a positive.
Jack Jennings joins Ethan Knight, Noah Herrmann, Deacon White and Ben Starkie as Under-18.5 players in the senior team with coach, Hamish Waldron, debuting more than 10 juniors across the season.
Darcy Russell is coming off a four-goal haul against Camperdown last week and will once again be the focal point up forward for the blue and white.
Waldron will be hoping the likes of Andrew Pepper and Charles Murrie can provide big bodies around the contest at times and dominate the territory game against the likes of Kaine Mercovich set to fly the flag through the midfield for the visitors.
In netball, the Kangaroos go into its final round clash against Port Fairy desperate to build winning form.
The Roos have struggled in the second half of the HFNL season, after being in finals contention at the bye, and will go in as heavy favourites against the Seagulls at Melville Oval tomorrow afternoon.
Hamilton coach, Nat O’Dea said she was excited to face the Seagulls to finish the season.
“Obviously Port Fairy haven’t won a game and Renae is coaching, so it is a bit of a local feel,” she said.
“I know they are going to be undermanned.
“You feel for her, she is working real hard.”
With finals off the radar for both teams, it is about finishing the season strong and building form and momentum going into 2023.
O’Dea will continue to trial new combinations during the game to see how players adjust to new positions.
“I feel we have kind of done that, Clare and Kellie last week in foreign positions, but there are a few combinations I haven’t had the opportunity to explore,” she said.
“Just lead into 2023 with the girls.
“It is up to the girls’ mindset and motivation to get the job done.”
The Roos continue to remain positive and go into the round 18 clash as favourites in their final game of the season.
