HAMILTON Kangaroos put in a clinical performance against Portland at Pedrina Park on Saturday, to run away with the game 57 – 32.
From the opening centre pass the home side dominated across the court with the first quarter seeing Danielle Van Kalken shoot the lights out with 18 goals as she was continually fed quality ball under the ring.
With margin on the scoreboard blowing out to 24 points at the long break, Van Kalken was rested after turning an ankle during the second term but had still recorded 29 goals next to her name.
Hayley Sherlock celebrated game number 250 with a brilliant display at GA as she was joined in the goal circle by Clare Crawford.
With over 600 games of experience between the pair, the Roos were in safe hands as Portland staged a form reversal in the second half to match its hosts goal for goal in the last two terms.
Division 1
Portland closed the gap on the ladder with Hamilton Kangaroos after a 34 – 33 thriller in division one that sees the Tigers close within four points of the Roos on the ladder and maintains its fifth place too.
Division 2
The Kangaroos proved to be too strong for the Tigers with a solid 35-26 victory in division two as the home side leapfrogged the visitors into second spot on the ladder as Brooke Gordon and Sophie Robinson produced excellent games for the Roos.
Division 3
Holly Rook in centre and Saskia Gould at goal keeper had outstanding games as the Roos smashed the Tigers, 46-10 to remain second on the ladder.
17-and-Under
Bella Chow was outstanding at wing defence, while Ella Sevior dropped a lazy 41 goals as the Roos accounted for the Tigers, 47-21.
15-and-Under
Portland came from behind in the last quarter to snatch victory from the Kangaroos, 27-26 as the teams staged a thrilling contest.
13-and-Under
Hamilton Kangaroos began the day with victory in the 13-and-Under age group as Ruby Spong controlled the Roos game plan from centre as the home side won, 24-5.
