PENSHURST proved it was a class above Moyston-Willaura on Saturday in the Mininera and District Netball Association (MDNA) A grade competition, as it defeated the Pumas by 43 goals, 60-17 at the final whistle.
The Bombers set the tone in the first quarter and essentially took the game away from the home side with domination across the court.
They scored 17 goals to one in the dominant quarter taking the game away from Moyston-Willaura’s reach – the home side didn’t help itself converting on one out of eight goal attempts.
While the Pumas managed to get a few goals on the board in the second half, the damage was well and truly done as the scoreboard had blown out.
Penshurst sits in sixth position by percentage and is looking to continue its momentum and play finals come the end of the season.
Elise Hirst was a strong target in the goal ring scoring 32 goals while Rachael Mibus (14 goals) and Lydia Ewing (10 goals) chipped in.
Jayne Lenehan and Leah Mirtschin were named the Bombers’ best players.
HAWKESDALE-MACARTHUR registered a massive win against SMW Rovers to win the game 63-21 thanks to some sharp shooting from the girls.
The Eagles made the most of their opportunities with some accurate goal shooting, making the Bulldogs pay for missed opportunities.
Madison Kelly scored 27 goals, while Sheridan Krause (20 goals) and Laura Addinsall (16 goals) both shot at over 80 percent.
Josephine Barker was influential through the midcourt rewarded in the best while Olivia Nield played a vital role in goal defence - Taylah Fisher and Zoe Wagstaff were SMW Rovers’ best players on the day.
GLENTHOMPSON-DUNKELD put on a clinic against Great Western at Glenthompson winning by 37 goals, 61-24 to sit even with Caramut and SMW Rovers on points.
Rams’ goal shooter, Jane Robertson was dominant at the offensive end of the court converting on 46 goals -
Chloe Frost (15 goals) also played her role well and made the most of her opportunities.
The Rams have won four games for the season and rides a big wave of momentum, as all of the season wins have come in the past four weeks.
ARARAT EAGLES prevailed against Woorndoo-Mortlake in a close game with the final result handing the home side the victory by just five goals, 39-35.
The sides sit in second and third position respectively, however the win handed Ararat Eagles a bit of breathing space with the side now sitting two games clear of the Tigers.
Faith Biddle and Taryn Kelly were named as Ararat Eagles’ best players while Tigers’ Nicole Anderson and Ashlea Spokes played great individual games.
TATYOON had no trouble accounting for Lismore-Derrinallum in the A grade netball as the undefeated top side continued on to make it 11 straight with a 50-24 win.
The Demons are in fifth position and will look to play finals later in the year, but they will need to find something special if they are to overcome the Hawks.
Zoe and Maggie Astbury were Tatyoon’s best players while Lismore-Derrinallum named Anita Burchell and Annabelle Arnold in the best.
