A FIELD of 45 men and eight women took to the course for Saturday’s stableford event.

Kynan Caruana had the best score of the day with 38 points to take out B grade from David Edwards with 34, and the consistent Shannon Kearns rounded out the placings with 33.

A grade saw Ben Kelson take the honours with 37 points, one point clear of runner-up, Paul Ryan, with Mark O’Brien taking third spot on a countback with 32.

Balls down the line went to Mark Williams, Alan Oakley, Zac Elliott and Trevor Wathen all with 32 points, along with Andrew Bowman, Rob Vecchiet and Marten Chin 31.

Nearest the pins went to Bruce Luhrs on the third, Ryan on the sixth and John Warden on the 16th.

Caruana got closest on his second shot on the 15th.

In the women’s field, Enid Smith returned the best score of the day with 30 points, with Rhonda Scullion taking the runner-up spot on a countback from Jo Forsyth after both finished with 27.

One of our newer golfers, Vicki Anderson, who has become a Saturday regular took home the nearest the pin awards on the third and 16th.

Tuesday

EIGHT brave golfers tackled the course on Tuesday in the beginners and emerging golfers group, as the conditions were fine overhead, but the wind was icy.

Some excellent scores were returned - Aaron Martin won the beginner group with 20 points, and the runner-up was Alan McLaughlin with 12.

Chantal Butcher continued her fine form with 17 points to win emerging group, followed by Anne Dowling, Lisa Murphy and Alex Ferguson all on 12.

Wednesday

WITH typical Sheepvention weather, wind and rain, Wednesday’s stroke event was changed to stableford.

Even with the easier option, only six women braved the course.

Ath Archer at 89 years of age and an inspiration to our women golfers led the way to claim first place on a countback with 29 points, holding off Glen Dixon and Helen Holcombe by one point.

Nearest the pins went to Archer on the third and Dixon on the 16th.

The longest putt on the 13th also went to Archer.
