A MERE 11 days remain until the 2022 Victorian Trimax Sandgreens Championships at the Parklands Golf Club on August 27 and 28.
A practice session is available for entrants on August 26 in the form of a 4BBB competition, commencing at 11am.
A strong field of competitors from across the state has already entered, and district golf club members are strongly encouraged to support this event.

Saturday
MORNING rain departed to leave golfers to enjoy relatively pleasant conditions in Saturday’s par round main event.
Dale Grambau and Stewart Turner both finished square with the card with Grambau taking the win on countback.
Best of the rest was Allan Hitchcock who finished with a -2.
Mitch Miller and Sue Irvin both landed straight drives on the ninth to win the men’s and ladies’ longest straight drive awards respectively.
Nearest the pin awards went to Hitchcock on the second, Bruce Taylor on the fifth and 11th, and Grambau on the 13th.
Longest putts were awarded to Rod Schwarz on the first, Barry Oldaker on the 16th, George Donaldson on the 17th and Graeme Torney on the 18th.
Irvin won the birdies and ferrets’ award.
Friday
MILLER scored 38 off the stick over the 34 par-rated old nine to record a nett score of 32.5 to decisively win Friday’s nine-hole stroke event over the original nine-hole course.
Taylor’s 34 nett secured second by half a shot from Turner.
Miller was nearest the pin on the second with Donaldson saluting on the 13th.
Pat Anderson sank the longest putt on the first, Peter Irvin took out the birdies and ferrets’ draw.
Wednesday
MARIE Cook proved the adage that “it’s an ill-wind that blows nobody any good” by compiling a most impressive 25 stableford points over 12 holes in bone-chillingly windy conditions on Wednesday.
Oldaker endured the icy winds to take second place with a score of 21, two shots clear of a windswept Bernie Cook, who held off Donaldson on countback.
The field failed to challenge the pin on the second and 15th, but Oldaker secured a nearest the pin award on the short 13th.
Miller took out the longest putt on the first and Cook won the birdies and ferrets’ award.
Monday
GLORIOUS late-winter weather welcomed a field of golfers, intent on taking advantage of pleasant conditions to post an exceptional score in the stroke round.
The game of golf however is renowned for obliterating good intention.
Gaye Goggin managed to stay ahead of the struggling pack, thanks to some impressive putting, to record a nett 79 to win the day from Gina Kelly on 80.
Repeat-offender, Irene Box, was to the fore in the novelties, securing nearest the pin awards on the 13th and 15th, and a longest putt on the 17th.
Jenny Row was nearest the pin on the eighth, while Marie Cook and Kelly shared the longest putt award on the 18th after an extended deliberation.
Marie landed a drive on the ninth fairway runway to take out the longest straight drive.
Goggin rounded out a successful outing by claiming both the birdies and ferrets draw and the putting award for the fewest putts of the round.

THE final Saturday event before the sandgreen championships will be a pinehurst.
