THERE will be plenty of golf action in Hamilton this weekend with Parklands Golf Club hosting the men’s and women’s Victorian Sandgreens Championships, which will be played today and tomorrow.
Good luck to all the local golfers who are participating.
Saturday
THE men played their foursomes championships, with 15 pairs taking to the course.
Mat Walkenhorst combined with his dad, Tim, took out the championship title with a handy 69 nett, closely followed by Mal Groves and Paul Ryan with 71.5.
Third place was taken out by Kedar Giles and Shannon Kearns 74 nett, with Jim King and Trevor Wathen, and Liam Powell and Ross Murray rounding out the placings after each pair returned with 76 nett.
Nearest the pins went to Liam Powell on the third, John Warden on the sixth, Tim on the 13th and Mat on the 16th.
Other events
DUE to the wintry wet conditions, there was no Tuesday beginners golf or Wednesday women’s golf played this week.
Hopefully with spring around the corner the weather will start to improve.
Out and about
CONGRATULATIONS to Hamilton golfer, Alma Fonda, who won the overall net honour for 36 holes at Golf Victoria’s open amateur event which was played at Tocumwal last week.
Fonda also was the B grade winner on both days for the 18-hole events.
Hit them long and straight and enjoy the 19th hole.
