DESPITE the foreshadowing of bad weather, the Portland Golf Club Spring Tournament had a relatively uninterrupted run across its four days of competition.
The annual tournament is one of the club’s biggest events with plenty of entries turning up for the first three days of competition.
Only one day was interrupted due to the rain with the fourth and final day, the Ivie and Eve Ladies Coastal Classic which was scheduled for yesterday, being postponed.
Friday was the biggest day of the tournament with over 120 players turning up to compete in the 4BBB stableford with Jason Bannam and Jeremy White claiming victory in the men’s while Carol Taylor and Lee-Anne Chapman won the women’s event.
Day two on Saturday had 80 participants for the 18-hole stroke competition where Aaron Welfare dominated with a score of 65 nett to win.
Sunday saw another big turnout with over 100 players competing in the four-person gentsomes with 27 teams registering.
