Bunker Shots

MOWERS and whipper snippers have been out in force at the Hamilton Golf Club, tidying up the course as it finally starts to dry out after a very wet spring.

Saturday

SATURDAY’S competition was a 4BBB stableford event with 49 players participating in rather windy conditions. 

The combination of Ross Murray and Cameron McDonald proved to be too good for the rest of the field, with a comfortable win finishing with 45pts.

Runners up were Robert Cunningham and Chris Crane 41pts with ball run down going to Michael Holcombe and Michael Kelso 40pts, Mal Groves and Graham Rentsch, Andrew Bowman and Trevor Wathen, Terry Dunn and Marten Chin all finishing with 39pts.

NTP’s 3rd – Danny Franc, 6th – Phil Schultz, 13th Rob Stagoll, 16th Steven Coate, 2nd shot 15th Chris Crane.

Tuesday

IN the beginners and emerging golfers group Karyn Dyson continued her recent good form winning with 21 pts closely followed by Chantal Butcher on 20 points, with Jen Upton rounding out the placings on 14pts.

Wednesday

A total of 27 women played in the 18-hole competition and 15 in the 9-hole competition.

Glen Dixon played steady golf to finish the day with 38pts and claim top spot by one shot from Deb Pinniger 37pts.

Ball run down went to Fran McMeel 36pts, Lyn O’Brien 35pts and Robyn Holcombe 32pts.

In the 9-hole event Nola Beks took the honours with a very handy 20pts, runners up were Lesley Hobbs 16pts, with Val Linke and Marg King rounding out the ball run down, both finishing with 15pts.

NTP’s Jo Forsyth – 3rd hole, Jen Hutton 6th hole, Pam Howell 16th hole and Pam White sunk a lovely putt on the 13th hole to win the longest putt.

Next Wednesday is a Texas Ambrose event with beginners and emerging golfers and the women’s annual trophy presentation dinner will be held on Wednesday evening.

Upcoming events

TODAY is a stroke event for men and women and the men’s monthly medal, and with 30 degrees forecast it should be ideal conditions for some good scores.

Twilight golf is played every Wednesday evening 4pm onwards, with a 9-hole stableford event; visitors are welcome.

The club’s Christmas Ambrose will be held on Sunday, December 18, entries can be made by contacting the club.

Hit them long and straight and enjoy the 19th hole.
