TIM Farquharson from Mooralla has taken home the Casterton News Casterton Open Golf Championship Trophy with an impressive 150 off the stick on the final day of the Casterton Golf Club annual tournament.
Farquharson shot a score of 76 off the stick in the first round of the 36-holes open stroke event.
He followed up in the afternoon with even more impressive 74 to claim his first Casterton open title ahead of an impressive field of single handicap golfers.
Runner-up in the open section was last year’s winner Jayden McLeod who returned a score of 77 and 78 for a total of 155.
The locals also had a good day out, with five trophies going to home-ground players, including John Matthews who took out the B Grade scratch event with 97 + 88 (185) just five shots ahead of Roy McCallum with 96 + 94 (190).
Other locals to get their names on the winners list were Pete Larkins, Barney McArlein, Adam Waters and Garry Carlin.
Sunday’s event was the final day of a week of very competitive golf in the Casterton Golf Club’s annual tournament.
The tournament was postponed from earlier in November due to the unseasonal wet weather, but the course was in great condition this week due to the huge amount of work done by the volunteers over the last few weeks.
