A CANADIAN foursome was held amongst the showers at Parklands Golf Club on Saturday, with the rainfall helping the course and keeping it look and running well, despite nearing the end of winter.
The combination of Alec Walter and Barry Oldaker were winners with the score of 69 7/8 points.
Wife and husband duo, Sue and Peter Irvin, finished second with 75 1/8, and third went to Graham Torney and John Elvery with 76 3/8.
Nearest the pins went to Steve Nattrass on the second, 11th and 15th, while Oldaker saluted on the fifth and 13th.
Longest putts went to Alec Walter on the first and 18th, while Peter Irvin collected the honour on the 17th.
Longest straightest drive went to Oldaker on the ninth, while Walter finished with the birdies and ferrets.
Tuesday
LADIES played a stableford round in ideal conditions.
Following on from her great form last week, the winner with 43 points was Jenny Row.
She was delighted her handicap has moved a few points.
In second place with 36 points was Marie Cook, and third went to Heather Hay on 35.
All players are enjoying the summer run on the course.
Nearest the pins went to Gaye Goggin on the fifth, Row on the eighth, Toby Salter on the 13th, and Mary McCallum saluted on the 15th.
Longest putt went to Cook on the first, Sue Irvin on the 17th, and Hay on the 18th.
Birdies and ferrets went to Row.
The ladies celebrated afternoon tea after their game with Janet Foster, a very valued member for many years.
Janet and Husband Graeme are off to Western Australia to be with family and Janet will be missed by many, especially in our club for her help during our Tournament and special events.
Her floral arrangements enhanced our club room, and we wish them well for the future.
Wednesday
THE forecast for high temperatures didn’t deter a small group of dedicated golfers, who ventured out to conquer the 13-hole stableford event.
Peter Irvin dominated the day with a winning score of 30 points, while Bruce Taylor finished second one shot off the pace, with Cook putting up 27 points to finish third.
Nearest the pins went to Peter Irvin on the second and fifth, Taylor on the eighth and Cook on the 13th.
Longest putt went to Alan Peace, while Cook collected the birdies and ferrets.
Friday
The Bureau of Meteorology’s Friday forecast for Hamilton was 36, with a summer nine-hole completion was played under our heat policy.
The morning tee off was at 8am for 8.30, or after 6pm.
This reflected the number of entries on the day.
Winner on a countback was Peter Irvin with 35 1/2 points ahead of runner-up, Barry Oldaker.
Nearest the pin on the 13th went to Peter Irvin.
