Bunker shots

SATURDAY’S stableford event had 53 men and 10 women on course, with Les Lloyd sneaking home on a countback from Ben Kelson to win A grade with 37 points, with Michael Holcombe third with 36.

A countback was also required in B grade, with Ben Taylor taking the honours from David Robertson with both on 37, ahead of Cameron McDonald on 36.

Balls down the line: A grade – Paul Ryan 36pts, Jim King and Damien Ferguson 35 points, Terry Dunn and Adam Manson 34, and B grade – Danny Franc and Edward Strauss 35, Glenn Hards and Gary McFarlane 34, and Rob Vecchiet 33.

Nearest the pins went to Adam Manson on the third, Ben Kelson on the sixth, Greg Stevens on the 13th, and David Robertsonon the 16th.

Manson hit the closest second shot on the ninth hole, and Andrew Bowman on the 15th.

Jo Forsyth was the ladies winner with 32 points from Debbie Milne 31, Chantal Butcher 30, Deirdre Simkin and Robyn Holcombe 29pts.

Holcombe was nearest the pin on the third and Vicki Anderson on the 16th.

Tuesday

AN Anzac Day Pinehurst event had 44 players on course with Mal Groves and Paul Ryan saluting with 70.625 nett, ahead of George McLean and Nathan Caruana 71.75.

Third was Ben Taylor and Brendan Lang 72.125 nett, fourth was Tim Lloyd and Jason Chandler 72.5, and Rob Vecchiet and Peter Fox’s 75.25 was fifth.

Nearest the pins went to Mal Groves and Tania Cullinane on the third, Peter Fox on the sixth, Kynan Caruana on the 13th, McLean on the 16th, and Warren Butcher holed the longest putt on the 18th.

Wednesday

THE women had a fun event this week playing multiplication stableford with Lyn Satchell and Jen Pike having a day out with 73 points.

Runners-up were Gillian Jenkins and Gaynor Eats 65, ahead of Di Hatherell and Sue Bensch 60, Dawn Cay and Lyn O’Brien 57, and Wendy Wathen and Helen Holcombe 57pts.

Nearest the pins went to Kerryn Price on the third and sixth, and Satchell on the 16th, while longest putt on 13th went to Alma Fonda, with Rachel Slade taking the 2nd shot on 15th hole.

Pennant

MEN’S scratch team went down, 6-1, against Warrnambool at Warrnambool - Jan Kautsky was the only winner from Hamilton.

Men’s division two handicap results weren’t available.

Mixed Pennant team had a 3-2 win against Peterborough at Peterborough.

This grade has one round left before finals, which will be played at Mooralla on Sunday.

Hamilton is currently on top of the ladder but will need to win at least two more matches to make the final.

Women’s scratch lost 3-2 against Portland at Portland, women’s division two had a bye, and women’s division three went down, 2-3, against Warrnambool at Peterborough.

Today’s event is aggregate stableford pairs men and women.
