PLAYERS are making a welcome return to the Hamilton Golf Club course after what has been another wet winter.
There is certainly lots of events coming up both on the course and also in the clubhouse.
Saturday
LAST Saturday the men played their foursomes championships with Eli Potts and Noel Jennings combining to be comfortable winners with a 69 nett.
Runners-up were Shannon Kearns and Broden Larcombe, a visitor from Barwon Valley Golf Club, with the pair finishing with 74 nett.
Nearest the pin on the third went to Brent Bell, with the sixth going to Tim Walkenhorst, and nearest the pin on the second shot on the ninth going to Robert Stagoll.
The women played a stableford on Saturday and Chantal Butcher had the best score of the day, finishing with 30 points, one clear of runner-up, Robyn Holcombe.
Wednesday
A SMALL field of 11 women took part in the stroke and Monthly Medal event.
With Kerryn Price having the best score of the day with 78 nett, to win from Glen Dixon who finished with 81 nett.
Balls down the line went to Gerri Griffin, Jo Forsyth and Enid Smith who all finished with 85 nett.
Nearest the pin on the third was claimed by Dixon, with Kerryn Price taking out the 16th, while the longest putt on the 13th went to Holcombe.
The putting was won by Dixon with 30.
Next Wednesday the women will be playing another Monthly Medal stroke event, catching up on the medals that were missed out due to the very wet start to winter.
Tuesday
THE beginner and emerging golfers had eight players with Harriet Keatly returning the best score of the day with 28 points from Jan Hornell on 24, along with Lisa Murphy and Wendy McDonald who both finished with 21.
Upcoming events
TODAY’S event is stroke, and the men will be playing monthly medal, while the women will be playing a round of the Kavell Lyons Trophy.
September 10 is a multiplication stableford pairs, starting at 11:30am for noon shotgun start with entry $25 per player which includes a barbecue lunch during the round. Non handicap players can participate.
My Golf junior golfing session for 9-15-year-olds is being held on September 24 - 9:30-11am and costs $15.
The September 29 grand final eve public holiday will see the club host a four-person ambrose event, any combination and non-handicap players welcome; 11:30am for noon hit off and costs $30 per person.
October 11 is Pink Day at the club with the annual event set to raise funds for our local cancer centre at Western District Health Service.
The event is a 4BBB, 9am for 9.30am shotgun start and costs $30.
The club is hosting an ABBA night ‘SOS’ on October 13, costing $85 per person which includes a main meal.
October 27 is Jazz at the Club, cost $20 per person.
