LAST Friday the women played for the Hazeldine Wine Shield, which is a straight foursome’s stroke event, named after the late Nell Hazeldine and the late Lyn Wines.
Kerryn Price and Robyn Holcombe had a good day claiming the shield with a 74 nett from Jo Forsyth and Glen Dixon 78.5 nett.
Saturday
A total of 44 men participated in the September monthly medal with Paul Ryan taking the honours with a handy 70 nett.
Ryan was also the B grade winner, with Kim Fielke coming runners up on a countback with 72 nett.
A grade was closely contested with Marten Chin winning on a countback with 71 nett from Chuck Raymond.
Balls down the line A grade went to Steven Coate 72nett, Kynan Caruana & Kevin King 74 nett, Michael Holcombe and Terry Dunn 75 nett.
Balls down the line B grade Noel Jennings and Glenn Hards 72nett, Bevon Zimmermann, Bruce Luhrs and John Christie 73 nett.
Nearest the pin on 3rd went to Martin Pitts, 6th went to Graham Rentsch, Damien Ferguson took out the 13th and Warren Butcher claimed the 16th.
Second shot on 9th went to John Raymond and second shot on 15th went to Tim Walkenhorst.
Eighteen women played stableford with Chantal Butcher continuing her great form to win with 40pts one point ahead of the consistent Gerri Griffin 39pts.
Balls down the line went to Margie Hadley 37pts, Wendy Wathen 35pts, Jenny Hurse & Robyn Holcombe 33pts, Elaine Rentsch & Jenny Fishburn 32pts.
Nearest the pins on 3rd and 16th holes went to Robyn Holcombe.
Monday
Hamilton hosted the Glenelg Veteran’s competition with a field of 54 players.
A grade was won by Glen Dixon 38pts on a countback from Trevor Wathen.
B grade was won by Stephen Astbury with 41pts from Enid Smith 39pts.
Nearest the pin on 3rd hole went to John Raymond and Dawn Cay, 6th Stephen Astbury, 16th Lyn O’Brien and Les Lloyd.
The next Glenelg Veteran’s event will be held at Heywood on Monday 16th October.
Tuesday
Nine players participated in the beginners and emerging golfers’ group with Helen Dillon winning with 18pts closely followed by her sister Jan Hornell, and Harriet Keatley who both finished on 17pts.
Wednesday
A total of 41 women played for the Captain’s trophy which is generously donated by our current women’s Captain Di Raymond.
The event was stableford and there were some very good scores with the trophy being won on a countback by Eileen Robertson from the Captain Di Raymond both finishing with 41pts.
Raymond was the A grade winner with Robyn Holcombe coming runner’s up with 39pts. While Eileen won B grade and Jenny Fishburn came runners up with 39pts.
Balls down the line went to Alexandra Kelso and Liz Nichol 37pts, Sue Vickery and Margie Hadley 36pts.
Nearest the pin on 3rd hole went to Rhonda Scullion, 16th went to Eileen Robertson, longest putt on 13th was won by Enid
Smith whilst second shot on 15th went to Robyn Holcombe.
Six women played in the 9-hole stableford event, with Lesley Hobbs winning on a countback from Penny Fraser, both finishing with 12pts.
Next Wednesday is the October monthly medal, stroke event and the final of the Silver Spoon.
There are only two of the four finalists available to play for the Silver Spoon, this event will be contested by Pam White and Helen Beattie with the winner going on to the State final.

Pink Day is being held Wednesday 11th October and this event is a 4BBB, 9am for 9.30am shotgun start cost $30, entry forms available from the club house.
Western District Health Service (WDHS) are holding their annual 4-person ambrose event on 17th November, entries through Community Liaison Department at WDHS.
Hamilton Golf Club will host their annual tournament from 23rd to 26th November and entries are now being taken.
In the Club House
The club is hosting an ABBA night ‘SOS’ on Friday 13th October, cost $85 per person which includes a main meal.
