SIXTY-EIGHT men took part in Saturday’s multiplication pairs stableford, where the score on each hole is multiplied with your playing partner’s score.
Jason Cay and Tim Lloyd had a successful day finishing with 76 points, runners-up were Nicholas Armstrong and Olly Francis 72 points, and third place went to Peter Jensen and Tony O’Connor 66 points.
Balls down the line went to Andrew Bowman and Kim Fielke, Robert Fishburn and Kevin King 65 points, Graham Rentsch and Robbie Cunningham, Jason Chandler and Warren Butcher 63 points, Shannon Kearns and Terry Dunn, Tyler Hards and Luke Fitzgerald 62 points, George McLean and Tim Walkenhorst 61 points, Andrew Henstridge and Troy Elliott and Trevor Wathen and John Raymond 59 points.
Nearest the pin and superpin winner of the third hole was Jason Chandler who won $103 for his great shot.
The sixth hole was won by Shane Ryan, 13th went to Jason Cay, 16th Nicholas Armstrong.
Second shot on the ninth was won by Terry Dunn and second shot on the 15th went to Stephen Giles.
Twenty-three women participated in a stableford event and Margie Hadley continued her very good form this year with a very handy 40 points to win from Beverley Tyson who took out the runner-up prize on a countback finishing with 37 points.
Balls down the line went to Lisa Murphy 37 points, Dawn Cay and Cheryl Brinkmann 35 points, Debbie Milne 34 points, Jo Forsyth 33 points, Karel Walkenhorst, Anne Ryan and Enid Smith all with 32pts.
Molly O’Brien took out nearest the pin on the third hole, Margie Hadley claimed the sixth, Anne Ryan was closest on the 13th and Vicki Anderson won the 16th.
Wednesday
A GOOD field of 53 players took part in the women’s stableford event.
Winner of A grade was Debbie Milne with 38 points, runner-up was Robyn Holcombe with 36 points.
B grade was very close with Karen Payne taking out first place on a countback from the in-form Dawn Cay both finishing with 37 points
The C grade winner and best score of the day went to Pam King who finished with a very handy 39 points, runner-up was Penny Fraser 36 points.
Balls down the line went to Marlene Clarke 36 points, Lyn O’Brien and Gail Dimond 35 points, Gillian Jenkins, Jo Forsyth, Rhonda Scullion, Helen Beattie, Sue Vickery and Rita Walkom all 34 points.
Nearest the pin on the third hole went to Wendy Wathen, the sixth was won by Cheryl Brinkmann, 16th was won by Carolyn Lewis.
Longest putt on 13th Wendy Wathen and second shot on 15th hole Robyn Holcombe.
Last Friday the final of the Hazeldene Wine’s Shield was played with Bec Small and Chantal Butcher combining to take out this straight foursome’s stroke event with a very handy 72 nett, the next best score was Jo Forsyth and Enid Smith on 76 nett.
Next week the women will be playing par, and it will be a shotgun start 9:30am for 10am hit off.
Tuesday
THERE was no official competition this week as our visiting professional golfer Craig Davis ran a clinic on short game for the beginners and emerging golfers, with a very good turnout.
We look forward to seeing some great chipping and putting from this group next week.
Upcoming events
THERE will be a junior golf coaching clinic being held in the school holidays.
The clinic will be run by our visiting professional Craig Davis with local talent Molly O’Brien lending a hand.
The clinic will be held on Tuesday July 2nd, and there is a two-hour clinic for more advanced junior players, 12 years or over, from 10am to 12pm, followed by nine holes of golf.
The other clinic is “come and try golf” for 8-17 years, which will be held from 1-2pm.
