Bunker shots

WEATHER played a part, as 27 men and eight women took to the course on Saturday to play in a stableford event.

Conditions were very mixed with rain, hail and finally some sunshine.

Kynan Caruana had the best score of the day with 37 points, finishing two points clear of runner-up, Chuck Raymond.

Balls down the line went to Jason Chandler and Jack Hutchins 34, Shannon Kearns, Michael Holcombe, Toka Rickus, Stuart McAdam and Warren Butcher 33, and Noel Jennings on 32.

Nearest the pin and superpin winner on the third hole was Andrew Bowman, the sixth hole went to Shannon Kearns, the 16th was won by Michael Holcombe and Terry Dunn hit the closest second shot on the 15th.

The women’s section needed a three-way countback to decide the placegetters, with Debbie Milne taking the honours ahead of Robyn Holcombe and Enid Smith after all three returned with 31 points.

Nearest the pins on third and 16th holes was Robyn Holcombe.

Wednesday

IT was ideal conditions for the 39 women who played in the stableford event.

Lisa Murphy is one of the club’s newer players and she put in a strong performance to record the best score of the day with 37 points to win B grade from Kath Hartwich by one point.

Jo Forsyth won A grade on a countback from Fran McMeel after both finished with 34.

Balls down the line went to Jen Upton 34, Liz Nichol and Marg King 33, Rita Walkom 32, Jenny Fishburn, Enid Smith, Nettie Purvis and Joan Lewis 31.

Nearest the pin on the third and 16th holes went to Dawn Cay, while the sixth hole was won by Anne Ryan, and Margie Hadley holed the longest putt on the 13th.

Tuesday

WINNER of the beginner group was Kris Fox with 21 points, closely followed by Cate Mercer-Grant with 19.

The emerging group was won by Sarah Laidlaw with 18, three clear of runner-up, Jan Hornell.

The nine-hole winner was Helen Morrison.

Upcoming events

HAMILTON Golf Club will be hosting a qualifier round of the 2024-25 Victorian Fourball championships on September 15.

There are men's, women's or mixed pair combinations.
