ATTENTION all you fair weather golfers, now we are into the last month of spring it is time to dust off your clubs and hit the fairways before we hear the plaintiff cry of “it’s too hot to play”.
To this end we are commencing on November 15th that $5 Fun Fridays will start.
This will be a nine-hole non-competitive event open to both experienced and new players wishing to have some stress-free fun in a beautiful environment.
As an added incentive there will be a free barbecue on completion of your game.
All ages are invited for a 5pm start, come along and enjoy yourselves.
This is an open invitation to all those social green fee players who use our course to come along and meet up with our members for a fun time.
Saturday
THE November Monthly Medal was contested in warm conditions and with a good field.
Captain, Barry Oldaker, was again in good form, taking out the meat tray with a final score of 87-16-71.
The voucher winner was Gaye Goggin, who managed 97-26-71, with Vince O’Brien next best on 95-21-74.
Balls down the line went to Steve Nattrass nett 76, John Wilkinson 77, and Stewart Turner 78.
Nearest the pins were won by Ron Oakley on the second, Wayne Rowland on the third, Dale Grambau on the fifth, the 11th was won by Allan Hitchcock, Oldaker on the 13th, and Goggin on the 15th.
Longest putts went to Nattrass on the first, Oldaker on the 16th, Allan Flavell putted truly on the 17th, and O’Brien holed out on the 18th.
Birdies and ferrets was won by John Wilkinson, while Oldaker won the putting with 22.
Friday
A SMALL field played the inward nine holes stroke event for the summer competition.
The event belonged to Stewart Turner, who claimed the win with a nett 33.5, also collected nearest the pins on the 13th and 15th holes.
We would love to see some more players come along for the Friday event - hit off is any time over the day or if you prefer, noon for 12.30pm.
Wednesday
ANOTHER small field played a stableford round over the inward nine holes, plus holes one, two and nine.
The winner was the ever-consistent Oldaker, winning on a countback from Alex Walter after both finished with 23 points.
Bill Evans was next best with 21 points.
Oldaker was nearest the pin on the second, Evans on the 13th and Walter on the 15th.
Les Pye holed the longest putt on the first, while birdies and ferrets went to Evans.
Tuesday
A PERFECT day for golf saw a stroke round played with count your putts.
Continuing her winning form was Goggin, who finished an excellent round with a score of 96-26-70.
Runner-up was Marie Cook with 98-28-71, while the next best was Heather Wilkinson with nett 77.
Nearest the pins were awarded to Goggin on the fifth, Mary McCallum on the seventh, Cook on the 13th and Gina Kelly on the 15th.
The longest putt on the first and 17th went to Wilkinson, and Heather Hay on the 18th.
Birdies and ferrets went to Cook, who also took out the putting with 23 putts.
This week
GOLF will be played, today, Friday and Saturday.
Saturday’s event will be a par event with a noon for 12.30pm hit off.
Please note there will be no event on Tuesday November 12, as this is the ladies’ golf trip.
