HAMILTON Kangaroos enter the 2023 Hampden Football Netball League finals series with the aim of winning the club’s first Open netball grade premiership.
With the club formed back in 2012, the Kangaroos are yet to taste success at the highest level, and to do so this season the team will have to earn the flag from fourth on the ladder.
Tomorrow the team will travel to Hanlon Park in Portland to tackle the Warrnambool Blues knowing that anything other than victory will be a premature start to the off season.
Twice these teams have met this season with the scoreline standing at one-one with the Roos taking the round six clash by five goals and the Blues victorious by seven goals in round 15.
The Blue and white earned its fourth-place finish via a stunning 65-48 victory over Terang-Mortlake in the final round of home and away fixtures to leapfrog both Warrnambool and North Warrnambool Eagles who both lost in the last round last weekend.
Lower grades
THE Kangaroos will be in action in lower grades across both today and tomorrow, with Division 1, Division 2 and 13-and-Under sides all taking to the court at Camperdown today for a chance to win straight through to the second semi-final next weekend.
The 15-and-Under and 17-and-Under sides will stare down the prospect of elimination in tomorrow’s sudden death contests, while Division 3 will have the weekend off after finishing minor premiers.
