HAMILTON KANGAROOS Open netball squad was no match for Cobden on Saturday in round 10 of the Hampden Football Netball League as the Kangaroos hosted the Bombers at Hawkesdale Recreation Reserve.
Despite their best efforts, the Kangaroos went down 41-80, with the Blue and White failing to score double figures for a term once in a promising sign going forward.
The Bombers were just too quick for the home side as the defence failed to stop the onslaught from the visitors as Cobden increased its lead with every change of end.
Grace Cleaver, Clare Crawford, and Phoebe Dunn were the pick of a well beaten team, with Crawford netting 20 goals and Saskia Gould 21.
Div 1
HAMILTON KANGAROOS remain atop the Division 1 ladder with a four-point lead after another great performance from the squad.
The team had to play catch up netball after trailing by two goals at the first break, but the margin was soon wiped away and the Roos bounded away to win, 48-36, as Hayley Sherlock (27) and Kelsey Lewis (20) were on target in the goal circle.
Div 2
Division two had a tough three-point loss, 38-41, to Cobden and had to play catch up netball for most of the game after a tied first quarter.
Tahlia Ross was brilliant under the hoop with 26 goals, while Molly Sevior, Tamara Milne, and Kyra McKinnis were named best players.
Div 3
HAMILTON KANGAROOS Division 3 team has maintained its two-game buffer atop the ladder with a solid 40-34 defeat of Cobden who finished with a wet sail to nearly catch the Roos in the final term, but Mia Spong, Ellen Casey, and Lily Raymond played well to bring home the points.
17-and-Under
THE 2024 season has been a battle for the Roos 17-and-Under squad with only a draw against North Warrnambool to show for their efforts, and so it was against Cobden on Saturday as the squad went down, 15-48, with Ella Ractliffe, Skye Kissel, and Grace Cleaver giving their all for the team.
15-and-Under
A dominant victory was posted by Hamilton Kangaroos against Cobden on Saturday as the 15-and-Under team played well to record a 47-17 win.
Ruby Cleaver, Ruby Spong, and Saskia Gould were the best of a very good team.
15-and-Under Reserves
HAMILTON KANGAROOS maintained third place on the ladder with a solid 37-19 victory against Cobden.
13-and-Under
IN the closest game of the day, Hamilton Kangaroos 13-and-Under team held their collective nerve to defeat Cobden, 27-22 after the teams were tied at 22 at three-quarter time.
Lexi Thomas, Ava Kinnealy, and Taya Sherlock were the pick of the Roos with Kinnealy netting 15 goals.

THE Blue and White held sway all day against the Bombers and led at every end change as the team a very good game of netball to claim the points, 21-16 as Bridget Sherlock, Hannah Carroll, and Chloe Stewart were judged the Roos best.
