IT was a tough outing for locals at the Hamilton Harness Racing Club meet on Friday, with wins proving elusive for the region’s trainers and drivers.
Jackie Barker’s efforts on Johnny Redcoat for grandfather, Jim Barker, saw the gelding claim third in race two, while Barker was onboard pre-race favourite, Double Helix, in the sixth race of the card, eventually finishing second.
Local trainer, Bec East, had an almost day, with two thirds in the final two races of the day.
Eastbro Daisy and Sea Lover were among the leaders until late, just being edged out to claim the final podium place.
She Will Wantano finished fourth in race five for the Heywood trainer.
