THE Hamilton Racing Club has received 390 nominations for its Turf to Trots gallops meeting on Friday.
Final fields were not available when going to print, with full declarations available to the public Wednesday morning.
As part of a racing promotion, linking this meeting to Sunday’s Harness action, the day will have plenty for all the family, especially the kids.
Kelly Sports will have many activities; a giant waterslide and pool will be set-up and for the first 100 kids through the gate merchandise packs will be handed out.
And while the kids enjoy the water activities on a beautiful day forecasted in the low 30s, adults can enjoy the tunes of Emily Elliot on The Deck while watching the racing action.
General admission is $10 for adults with kids 16 and under getting through the gates for free.
The meeting will kick off with four maiden races, followed by four races for BM58 gallopers.
Plenty of recent rain across the state seems to have missed Hamilton to a large degree, with the track rating presented as a Good4 when inspected by racing stewards late on Monday morning.
With the weather on the improve all week, the track should be in great condition for racing.
As usual most of the leading trainers in the region have supported the meeting with multiple nominations.
Warrnambool trainers, Lindsey Smith, Symon Wilde, Matthew Williams, Daniel Bowman and Tom Dabernig have plenty of success at the track and will pay to follow.
Wimmera duo, Paul Preusker and Andrew Bobbin, have loaded the bases and rarely miss the winning stall.
Ballarat trainers, headed by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Matt Cumani, Mitch Freedman and Andrew Noblet have also entered plenty of runners.
Noblet’s stable has been in great form and two debutants to watch are Chica Con Suerte and Split Point should they run.
The consistent Prancing With Fire looks ready to win and Conclave Prince also looks well placed.
From the other stables, three horses that may pay to follow are Sunburnt, Actaeon and No Matter What.
All won at the previous meeting here on December 12, and winning form is good form.
Local trainer, Jess Constantine, won first-up with Bajraktari at Terang on New Years Day, and may be worth an each-way ticket in either BM58 event over 1400m or 1600m.
He has solid form on his home track having recorded a placing and his Maiden win here back in November 2021.
Good punting.
