Wilde grabs training treble at Hamilton

SYMON Wilde continued his great Hamilton strike rate by landing a training treble at Friday’s Turf to Trots gallops meeting.

In warm conditions, the Warrnambool trainer teamed up with Tahlia Hope to win two of the mile events with Actaeon (Bet365 Handicap) and Autumn Colours (Maxi Tankers Maiden Plate), before sending favourite punters home happy in the final race when Sevillana (Walkers Earthworks Handicap) scored over the 1400m trip with apprentice, Dakotah Keane, in the saddle.

Actaeon’s victory showed his liking for the track, making it two from two after winning his maiden at the previous meeting in December.

Starting the shortest priced runner of the day, the gelding had little trouble with his opposition, leading all the way to score by just over two lengths.

At her first start for the team, Autumn Colours may have surprised when winning narrowly at generous odds after previously being trained by Anthony Cummings.

The stable was narrowly denied four winners when Jack Knows Best was beaten into second place by Ravin in Hamilton Lifts Handicap over 2200m.

Highlighting Wilde’s love of the track, his 288 starters have netted 54 winners and for a winning strike rate of 18.8 per cent, well above his overall win rate of 14.9 per cent.

Add in another 86 placings and he almost strikes at 50 per cent for top three finishes.

Riding with the theme of loving the track, the Peter Chow-trained True Nobility won his fourth race at the venue with a stylish victory in the Midfield Meats Handicap over 1100m.

Ridden by Tayla Childs, the five-year-old son of Star Turn has only started five times at the track for all his four career wins.

Thailess (Bet365 Maiden Plate 1200m) and City Escape (Taylor Toyota Maiden Plate 1100m) were both rewarded for recent consistent form with maiden wins in the opening two races.

The experience of Jack Hill and Brad Rawiller landed the wins for trainers Andrew Bobbin and Vin Malady respectively.

Jane Duncan made the long trip from Swan Hill a winning one with the long-priced Hawkeyedhost landing the money in the Creek Electrical Maiden Plate.

Teaming up with Madison Lloyd also formerly from Swan Hill, the pair scored by a half-length over the 2200m trip.

Liam Riordan was among the placings five times across the meeting, his only win coming narrowly on the Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained Ravin.
