Barker claims local win

UNDER grey skies, the Hamilton Harness Racing club conducted its eight-race meeting on Wednesday, with local success at the event.

The Thank You Volunteers Trotters Handicap was race one and was won by Wish Upona Dream, driven by Michael Bellman trained by Bec Morrissey, with Sonarmi Joh driven by Jackie Barker second and Designs driven by Ellen Tormey running third with a mile rate of 2:04.3

Race two was taken out byConcongella Miss driven by Jason Ainsworth, with Jackie Barker guiding Shady Dancer to second with Asharah running third driven by Ashley Ainsworth in a mile rate of 2:00.2.

The Bendigo Bank 0-1 LTW Pace saw  Grayson Red salute after Amy Day put in a splendid drive to hold off second-placed Our Better Bro, driven by Jackie Barker, and Rockin Charmerdriven by Nicholas O’Connor in a mile rate of 2:02.7.

The fourth was won by Always be Blakey driven by James Herbertson, finishing ahead of All Blazing Guns driven by Matthew Craven in second and third-placed Coniston driven by Ellen Torney in a mile rate of 1:55.3.

The Alexandra House Sports Club Pace saw Jason Lee guide Keayang Blue Jeans to victory ahead of Didafull Oneeighty, driven by Amy Day, and The Tri Line driven by Lochie Cook third in a mile rate of 1:57.6.

The  Hamilton Laundry and Dry Cleaners pace was held for race six as Irishmurphy driven by Jackie Barker greeted the judges first with One Off driven by Ashley Ainsworth running second and Ona Merry Dance driven by Rory Coverdale finishing third in a mile rate of 2:00.9

The seventh race of the day went to Baltic Spirit to give Barker a second win of the day in the sulky, winning ahead of Just Abit Dusty driven by Glen Craven second and The Firey Sunset driven by Matthew Craven third in a mile rate of 2:00.8.

The final race was theMatthews Petroleum Pace Lee collected a double after guiding Keayang Kevin passed the post ahead of Ourbeachbabe, driven by Lochie Cook, in second and Presidential Change came third with a mile rate of 1:59.3.

The Club's next meeting is on August 21.
